34 +1 weeks

After a lot of toing and froing with the midwifery clinic, and after not having seen the same midwife twice for appointments (Lexie is apparently pregnant herself and has been off work a lot), I have finally been assigned a lady called Justine. I saw her today and had a lovely chat, she seems great. Good vibes.

She saw in my file how quickly Clara came, so we talked about when to come in and briefly about how to manage an unplanned home birth. She also said that third babies can be a bit tricky, lots of on/off false labour and such. We’ll see what we get in a few weeks’ time!

Hedgehog has definitely turned head down in the last week. That’s now feet I can distinctly feel pushing and kicking vigorously at my right hand side ribs, and a little head I can occasionally feel grinding about uncomfortably in my pelvis. One step in the right ditection!

Lots of lasts

I just saw someone take a pregnancy test on tv, and realised I’ll never do that again. This Hedgehog is definitely my last. Last time looking away from the stick for three whole minutes, and then the adrenaline rush of seeing a positive result.

Last time wearing my favourite maternity clothes. Actually, they’re all going to charity soon.

Last time washing and sorting baby clothes

Last time lying on the sofa waiting for baby to kick and bounce.

Last time wearing a little tiny baby in a sling.

Etc. Etc.

Better remember to focus and actually experience everything one last time.

30 +4 weeks

Girls’ dinner with the Swedish crew at our house this evening. Decided on a flower theme, then realised nothing floral in my wardrobe will fit. Ah well. Who says a wrap dress has to wrap?

Day two and beyond
